Hey there,
One of the more frequent questions we get over at Project Arrow office hours is whether the cold emailing works with investors.
The short answer is yes. Investors do read all their cold pitch emails, even if they don’t know where they’re from. That’s called inbound dealflow - if they don’t get cold emails they have a marketing problem.
Will they answer to cold emails though? They might, but that is entirely up to the way the email was crafted. Before you send it, you should make sure:
your copy is compelling
the investors are interested in what you’re selling.
This requires a sellable investment story, backed by homework about the investor’s profile. We extensively help our founders at Project Arrow with that.
One last thing. Dealing with investors can be very frustrating. Perhaps they don’t know what you know. Perhaps they don’t care. Your cold email is your first encounter with a stranger - you have one chance to sell your story in a simple and efficient way. At the end of the day, the goal is to find just the few that want to go where you do.
